Welcome back! We hope you all had a happy Christmas and New Year and it is lovely to see all the children back in school again. We have a very busy term ahead with years 1 and 2 learning about Foods of the World, years 3 and 4 the Animal Kingdom and years 5 and 6 about Conflicts. We will be welcoming back Sam’s Safari for the third time in January. The year 3 and 4 children will be enjoying the animal experience this time, meaning the whole school has now been involved this year. Years 5 and 6 will be visiting the National Holocaust Centre in what should be a really interesting, but moving, trip to enhance their understanding of the Conflicts topic. Later this term, Parents of Westcliffe (POW) will be organising more of our ever-popular Family Lunches – further details will follow.
We are setting up our new Parents’ Forum in January. This is an opportunity for parents to have a greater voice in school and will enable them to contribute to school decision-making and in helping to develop a strong partnership between home and school.
Can we also remind any parents whose personal circumstances may have recently changed that you may be eligible to apply for Pupil Premium (which comes with a clothing grant). Letters will be sent to all parents during the first week of the spring term. You can still apply even if you are unsure if you are eligible. Please ask at the office if you would like an application form or if you have any questions about Pupil Premium.
We look forward to seeing you some time this term at one of our many open events.
