Sports funding 2016/17

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

This document outlines the use of the government’s £9,328 investment in PE for Westcliffe Primary School for the 2016/17 academic year.

 

Planned spending will be divided into the following headings:

Staffing & Opportunities – additional staff employment to deliver PE/extra-curricular sessions

 

Equipment – new equipment purchase to assist with driving the curriculum forward

 

Memberships & Schemes – memberships of external groups or organisations

 

Staffing & opportunities

 

Mrs S Barrett working 5 hours per week for the provision of a selection of after-school clubs for Key Stage 1 and 2.

 

Mrs K Cullum working 21.5 hours per week to provide active lunchtime sessions, healthy living sessions and sports clubs.

 

Mrs Barrett and Mrs Cullum will be partly paid by the Government funding due to all sessions being offered as additional activities to all children.

Target children encouraged to live healthy lifestyles

Healthy lifestyles promoted through school

All children have access to extra-curricular opportunity

Children have increased awareness of a healthy lifestyle

Opportunity to try new sports

 

Wheelchair basketball

This was organised for the Yr 5&6 children to participate in playing basketball in a wheelchair. This was so successful that we arranged an additional day.

Target children encouraged to understand more about disabled lifestyles

Healthy lifestyles promoted through school

Children have access to extra-curricular opportunity

Children have increased awareness of alternatives available

Opportunity to try new sports

 

Equipment

Various additional items of small equipment £500

Playground marking £500

 

Impact:

Raised attainment in PE

Increased activity at break and lunchtime

Improved children’s attitudes to PE

Show the importance of looking after and maintaining the standard of equipment

 

Memberships & Schemes

School Sports Partnership Membership fee = £2,500

School sports federation (organised as a football/high 5/athletics events throughout the school year) = £35 per annum

Youth Sport Trust = free membership £0

Sainsbury’s School Sports (kitemark) = free membership £0

 

Impact:

Increased competitions

More children have access to competitive sports

Increased pride in school

Profile of PE has been raised in school
