Westcliffe Primary School

'Our school is committed to inspirational teaching that develops aspirational young people.'

Welcome to the Summer Term update!

This term our topic is The Romans - it will involve using our history and geography skills to explore this ancient civilisation. We will be detectives and we will be looking into different sources of evidence to describe people and life from the past. We will be using our map skills to discover how the Roman Empire developed over time. We also have an exciting trip booked to immerse ourselves in the history of the Roman people.

Part way through the first half term, Year 6 will be sitting SATs in May (13th-16th).  Year 6 are very prepared for these and I’m sure they will do their best (that’s all we ask!). There will be a Breakfast Club running for Year 6 in that week – a letter will be sent out nearer the time with details.  After SATs, we will have the opportunity to continue learning all about Roman life and important people of that time. We will also use our DT skills when designing and making a product – along with having a special week dedicated to RE, where we will explore Christianity and another religion.
