Autumn Term 2016 introduction

It is our first term in a Key Stage 2 class. We are really excited and ready for all the new challenges we are facing in autumn term.

Our topic is ‘Delightful Dahl’ – it gives us plenty of opportunities to share and read some amazing stories like ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’, ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ or ‘Esio Trot’.

So far in Literacy we have been developing our setting and character description skills. As we thought that the BFG would like to have his own dream jar, in our books we also captured our special dreams for him!

Our Numeracy sessions are exhausting! We climb up the steps all the time – the Big Maths steps, of course! We are improving our times tables recall and applying it in our division tasks. We have been learning and trying to use the grid method for multiplication and the column method for addition and subtraction.

In science we are going to be investigating reversible and irreversible changes using jelly, chocolate and eggs.

In the second half of the term we will be having swimming lessons and we are really looking forward to working hard for our swimming badges.
