'Our school is committed to inspirational teaching that develops aspirational young people.'

Parent/ Carer Code of Conduct

At Westcliffe Primary School, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where every pupil can thrive and feel secure. To help maintain this positive community atmosphere, we have created a Parent/Carer Code of Conduct which sets out clear expectations for behaviour when parents or carers are on school premises, attending school events, or communicating with the school.

The creation of this Code of Conduct reflects our shared responsibility to model respect, kindness, and cooperation for our children. It aims to foster positive relationships between parents, staff, pupils, and the wider school community, ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity and respect. This is especially important in supporting our school’s ethos and values, and in promoting a safe, welcoming environment for all.

To help you understand the Code of Conduct, it is summarised below:

  • General Conduct:
Parents and carers are expected to act respectfully and support the school’s ethos, setting a positive example in interactions with staff, pupils, and other families.

  • Working with the School:
Collaboration with school staff is encouraged to resolve concerns calmly and constructively, respecting decisions made in the best interests of all pupils.

  • Behaviour and Safety:
Intimidation, aggression, or threatening behaviour towards anyone in the school community will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the premises.

  • Respect for the School Environment:
Parents and carers should help maintain a clean and safe environment, respecting school property and adhering to rules such as the no-smoking, no alcohol and animal-free zone.

  • Use of Social Media:
Concerns should be raised through appropriate school channels rather than on public social media platforms, avoiding defamatory or offensive comments.

  • Dress Code:
Appropriate attire is expected when on school premises or attending school events to reflect a positive role model for children.

  • Drop-Off and Collection Procedures:
Safety is paramount during drop-off and collection times, including ensuring only authorised adults collect children, parking considerately and not using or allowing others to use e-bikes or e-scooters on the premises for the safety of all users.

  • Compliance with School Policies:
Parents and carers are asked to adhere to all relevant school policies, which are available on request.

  • Final Important Reminder:
Treat all school staff with courtesy and respect and work collaboratively with the school to maintain a supportive community.

We believe that this Code of Conduct will strengthen our partnership with you and help us all work together to provide the best possible environment for our children’s learning and well-being.
