Welcome to the summer term!

And, just like that we are at the start of our final term in Reception and the children will soon be getting ready to move on up to Year 1!

After a change of plan, during the second half of the spring term, to focus on recycling and looking after our world, we are now immersing ourselves in the topic of ‘Growing’. We have already enjoyed doing some work based on the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and planted our own bean seeds. We will be learning all about the parts of a plant, the best conditions for a plant to grow and just what worms have to do with helping plants grow! We will also think about the different types of fruit of vegetables that we can grow, finishing with the story of ‘The Enormous Turnip’.

In the last week of this half term, we will be reading the book, ‘The Queen’s Knickers’, as we join in the celebrations for the Queen’s platinum jubilee.

During the final half term, out main topic focus will be ‘The Seaside’ - but we will also begin some transition work to help us get ready for our journey into Key Stage 1. It will be another busy term!

Please remember that Wednesday is PE day and the children need to come dressed in their PE kits with their school uniform in a bag to change into after the lesson. This will help develop their independence as well as preparing them for PE in Year 1.
